Patna: A Class 10 student who went missing from a village under Bihta police station in Patna on September 18 was found injured near Alamnagar railway station in Lucknow the following morning and later died while undergoing treatment.

The girl’s family has accused three youths from the same village — Shankar Rai, Durga Rai and Laxman Kumar — of abducting and sexually assaulting her and causing her death. Police have arrested Laxman Kumar, while efforts are under way to trace the other two accused.

Girl Went Missing On September 18

According to her family, the girl left home around noon on September 18 to attend school but did not return.

The family searched for her but was unable to locate her. They subsequently alleged that the three named youths had abducted her.

The family has lodged a case against the three youths, alleging abduction, rape and murder. The girl’s mother has also demanded the death penalty for the accused.

Found Near Alamnagar Railway Station

According to the girl’s father, Jitendra Rai, the family was informed by the Lucknow railway administration on the morning of September 19 that she had been found injured near the railway tracks close to Alamnagar railway station.

The family travelled to Alamnagar, where they were informed that the girl had died during treatment.

Police also recovered a mobile phone from the scene. The father has claimed that the phone handed over to him by police belonged to one of the three youths named in the complaint. Police are verifying the ownership of the phone and examining its possible relevance to the case.

Police Investigating Circumstances

The family later brought the body to Bihta police station and demanded the arrest of the accused.

Bihta SHO Amit Kumar said the family reported the matter to police on the morning of September 21 and that an investigation is under way. Police are also establishing contact with the Lucknow railway administration.

A police team has been formed to trace the accused who remain at large.

Investigators are examining how the girl reached Lucknow, the circumstances in which she was found injured and the allegations made by her family.

The post-mortem and other investigation reports are expected to provide further information about the circumstances surrounding her death.
