Kaimur/Patna: Police in Kaimur district are continuing investigations after four headless bodies were recovered from two separate locations in Ramgarh police station area earlier this week.
More than 94 hours after the first recovery, the identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding the killings remain unclear, officials said.
Bodies found at two locations within 60 hours
According to police, body parts were recovered from two suitcases found in the Durgavati river on May 10. Two days later, on the night of May 12, two additional torsos were found inside sacks near the Abhaide canal.
All four bodies were found without heads, complicating efforts to establish their identities.
Police said no conclusive leads had emerged so far in the investigation.
Police appeal for public cooperation
Ramgarh station house officer Hari Prasad Sharma on Thursday launched a public outreach campaign in the market area, using loudspeaker announcements mounted on an e-rickshaw to seek information from residents.
Police appealed to landlords and local residents in Ramgarh, Nuawan, Mohania, Devhaliya, Chandesh market and nearby villages to share details of tenants who may have left suddenly or gone missing after May 5.
Officials believe such information could help identify the victims and establish links connected to the case.
Reward announced for information
Kaimur police have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone providing credible information leading to a breakthrough in the investigation.
Police said teams are continuing to collect evidence and examine possible leads in connection with the killings.
