Khagaria: Residents of Nayagaon Shiromani Tola, a small village in Bihar’s Khagaria district, faced several days of fear and anxiety after a highly venomous Russell’s viper was spotted near their homes. The snake, considered one of Asia’s most dangerous, was often seen slithering close to residential areas. Villagers were especially worried for the safety of children and the elderly and became very cautious in their daily routines.
Concerned about a possible accident, the villagers called the emergency helpline 112 to alert the authorities. The police team arrived quickly at the scene and carefully secured the area to ensure that no one was harmed. The rescue operation was carried out with extreme care, and the team successfully captured the four-foot-long Russell’s viper. Villagers were kept at a safe distance during the process to prevent any accidents.
A police constable involved in the operation said the snake is very dangerous and explained that it would be safely transported to a forest area and released back into its natural habitat. The authorities took every precaution to ensure both the safety of the villagers and the humane treatment of the snake.
After the successful rescue, the atmosphere in the village changed completely. The fear that had held the community for days was replaced by relief and gratitude. Villagers praised the prompt response and professional handling of the situation by the police team, acknowledging that a serious accident could have occurred without timely intervention. With the snake now safely relocated, life in Nayagaon Shiromani Tola has returned to normal.
