Patna: The future of Khan Global Studies Institute in Patna has come under scrutiny after Bihar Fire Services warned that the coaching institute could face closure for failing to comply with mandatory fire safety regulations.
Bihar Fire Services DIG Manoj Kumar Nath said the institute has been given 15 days to rectify deficiencies identified during inspections. If the required corrective measures are not implemented within the stipulated period, authorities may initiate action to shut down the coaching centre.
Fresh Inspection Reveals Continued Violations
According to fire department officials, the institute had already been served a notice regarding shortcomings in fire safety arrangements.
An earlier inspection conducted jointly by fire service officials and the local administration reportedly identified several violations. A subsequent inspection found that many of the deficiencies remained unresolved, prompting authorities to adopt a stricter stance.
Officials said compliance with prescribed fire safety standards is mandatory for institutions accommodating large numbers of students and staff.
Statewide Enforcement Drive Underway
The action against the coaching institute comes amid a broader crackdown on fire safety violations across Bihar.
Following major fire incidents in Delhi and Muzaffarpur, the fire department has intensified inspections of hospitals, hotels, educational institutions and other public establishments. Several institutions in Patna have already faced regulatory action, while orders to seal some premises have also been issued for non-compliance.
Officials have indicated that enforcement measures will continue across the state.
FIR and Firing Incident Add to Controversy
The fire safety issue has emerged alongside an ongoing criminal investigation involving the coaching institute.
On June 2, a firing incident and subsequent unrest were reported outside the coaching centre in the Musallahpur Hat area of Patna. An FIR was later registered against Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir.
Two bodyguards associated with him have already been arrested and remanded to judicial custody in connection with the case.
Police Investigation Continues
According to police officials, the arrested bodyguards allegedly stated during questioning that the firing took place on Khan Sir’s instructions. Based on those statements, a case was registered against him.
However, the allegations remain part of an ongoing investigation, and authorities have not yet presented their final findings. Police continue to examine evidence and statements related to the incident.
Coaching Rivalry Angle Under Probe
The controversy has also drawn in other coaching operators.
Roshan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu GS Academy, has been arrested in connection with the dispute. Investigators are examining allegations related to attacks on coaching institutes and other incidents linked to the broader controversy.
The case gained further attention after videos connected to the incident circulated on social media.
Focus Turns to Anticipatory Bail
Meanwhile, Faisal Khan has not yet moved court seeking anticipatory bail, according to available information.
Members of his legal team have indicated that an anticipatory bail petition may be filed soon. While police continue efforts to locate him in connection with the criminal case, administrative authorities are separately monitoring compliance with fire safety regulations at the coaching institute.
