Patna: Patna Police have registered a case against educator Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with alleged gunfire during a violent clash at his coaching centre earlier this week.
According to police sources, an FIR has been lodged at Kadamkuan police station under provisions relating to attempted murder and the Arms Act following the emergence of a video that allegedly shows security personnel opening fire outside the premises of Khan Global Studies.
Police officials said the case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the police themselves after reviewing evidence collected during the investigation. Sources indicated that raids were being conducted to locate and arrest the accused named in the FIR.
Investigation Intensifies After Viral Video
The case stems from an attack on Khan Global Studies on the night of June 2.
According to police, a group of individuals allegedly assaulted a security guard, pelted stones at the coaching centre and damaged banners and posters installed on the premises.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, claims circulated that multiple rounds of gunfire had been exchanged. Those claims were later withdrawn, with Khan Sir stating that his initial remarks had been made amid confusion at the scene and were based on information provided by others present.
The investigation took a significant turn after a video surfaced on June 4 that allegedly showed two security guards associated with the coaching centre firing weapons outside the premises.
Guards Arrested, Weapons Seized
Following the emergence of the footage, police brought both security guards in for questioning and later arrested them.
The weapons allegedly used during the incident have been seized and sent for examination.
According to police sources, the guards admitted during questioning that they had fired shots during the confrontation. Investigators are now examining the circumstances under which the weapons were used and whether any offences were committed.
Police have also questioned Khan Sir as part of the inquiry.
Khan Sir Defends Actions As Self-Defence
Responding to the allegations, Khan Sir defended the actions of the guards, arguing that they were responding to an attack and acting in self-defence.
“A scuffle was taking place. I knew it would take time for the police to arrive, so we acted in self-defence,” he said.
Questioning criticism of the guards’ actions, he added: “Why do we keep guards? To protect people when the need arises. Someone came at night and severely assaulted my guard. What were they supposed to do before the police arrived?”
His remarks are likely to become a key aspect of the investigation as police seek to establish whether the use of firearms was legally justified.
Rival Coaching Director Already In Jail
The broader dispute has already resulted in the arrest of Roshan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu Coaching, along with two associates, Abhishek and Gaurav.
The three were arrested on June 3 in connection with the attack on Khan Global Studies and later remanded to judicial custody by a Patna court.
Roshan Anand has denied any involvement in the incident and alleged that he has been falsely implicated.
Rivalry Under Scrutiny
The confrontation has drawn widespread attention within Patna’s highly competitive coaching sector, where rivalry between major institutes has intensified in recent years.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage, witness statements, social media videos and forensic evidence related to the seized firearms.
Police have not yet released a detailed official statement outlining their findings, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The outcome of the inquiry is expected to determine whether the firing constituted an act of self-defence, as claimed by Khan Sir and the guards, or whether criminal liability can be established under the charges now registered by the police.
