Patna: The protest demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th Preliminary Examination entered its second day on Tuesday, with teacher and YouTube educator Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, leading the demonstration at Patna’s Gardanibagh.
Khan Sir, who has been vocal about alleged irregularities in the examination, claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is aware of the demand for a re-examination and has instructed his principal secretary, Deepak Kumar, to look into the matter. “We request CM Sir and Deepak Sir to meet and ensure the re-examination is conducted,” he told the gathering of candidates.
The protest has gained momentum, with more aspirants joining in. On Monday, Khan Sir vowed to continue the agitation until the state government and the BPSC agreed to scrap the preliminary exam. On Tuesday, he reiterated that the protest had reached a critical point. “We are close to our demand. We will take legal action and fight our case ourselves to ensure justice for the candidates,” he said, symbolically carrying bangles and anklets as a mark of protest.
Allegations of malpractice have fueled the anger among candidates, with Khan Sir claiming that question papers were leaked and shared with select individuals in districts such as Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Siwan, and Motihari. He further alleged that discrepancies occurred at multiple examination centres, with the normalization process affecting results unfairly. “We have all the evidence, including CCTV footage. The administration, BPSC, and government officials have admitted that irregularities took place,” he asserted.
Warning of larger demonstrations if their demands are not met, Khan Sir said, “The government should not push us to the edge. If needed, lakhs of candidates will gather at Gandhi Maidan for a mass protest.”
