Patna: As the Bihar Assembly election results began to emerge, early trends suggest a decisive win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), signalling the party’s return to power in the state. Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP-RV), Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and Rashtriya Lok Samata (RLM) celebrated the apparent victory, with Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde describing the results as “joyous” for the NDA. The Election Commission has so far declared NDA candidates victorious in 93 seats.
In contrast, the Grand Alliance, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), faced disappointment. While Rabri Devi’s residence had been crowded yesterday with supporters and onlookers, it fell silent as trends emerged on Friday.
Amid the subdued atmosphere, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad left his residence in a special chariot to take a stroll along Marine Drive, a project initiated by Nitish Kumar. Known for his evening visits to the promenade, Lalu reportedly paused near local food stalls during his walk. Sources say he had been watching television coverage of the vote count since morning before setting out on his ride.
As crowds gradually dispersed outside Rabri Devi’s residence, the quiet marked a stark contrast to the celebrations elsewhere in the state, reflecting the shifting fortunes of Bihar’s political landscape.
