Patna: As the Bihar assembly elections approach, political tensions in the state have escalated sharply, with leaders exchanging sharp accusations and personal attacks. RJD chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has launched a scathing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning the relevance of the so-called “Gujarati model” in Bihar.
Through a social media post, Lalu wrote: “Hey Modi ji, you want victory from Bihar and give us a factory in Gujarat? This Gujarati formula will not work in Bihar.” He further targeted the Prime Minister over a recent bandh called by the BJP and the reported abuse directed at Modi’s mother during a political rally, questioning whether the incident had been orchestrated by party workers. Lalu warned that Biharis should not be underestimated, alleging that BJP supporters were harassing teachers, women, students, pregnant women, the elderly, and journalists.
ऐ मोदी जी,
विक्ट्री चाहिए बिहार से और फैक्ट्री दीजिएगा गुजरात में?

Responding to the allegations, PM Modi condemned the abuse of his mother, calling the incident “extremely sad and painful” during a speech on September 2. “What happened in Bihar a few days ago, I had not even imagined. This is not just an insult to my mother, but to the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country,” he said, emphasising the personal and moral significance of the incident. PM Modi also criticised the RJD’s past governance, claiming that Bihar had suffered rampant crime and a culture of impunity for murderers and rapists, with women bearing the brunt of lawlessness.
The exchange has intensified the emotional tenor of Bihar’s political landscape, with analysts predicting that personal attacks and family-focused rhetoric will dominate the forthcoming election campaign. Political experts suggest that the controversy could significantly influence voters’ perceptions, raising the stakes in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
