Patna: A portrait of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was ritually bathed with 251 kg of milk in Bhagwanpur in Vaishali district on Sunday.
RJD leader and social activist Kedar Prasad Yadav organised the ceremony, during which Pandit Abhay Acharya conducted a worship ritual before the portrait according to Vedic traditions.
Leader Describes Lalu Yadav As ‘Avatar Of Kali Yuga’
During the ceremony, Kedar Prasad Yadav described Lalu Prasad Yadav as an “Avatar of Kali Yuga” and said he regarded the RJD chief as an embodiment of the divine.
Drawing a comparison with Lord Krishna’s battle against Kansa, Yadav said Lalu Prasad Yadav had raised his voice for poor and marginalised people and fought for their rights.
Yadav said his reverence for Lalu Prasad Yadav was the reason behind organising the ritual bathing of his portrait.
251 Kg Of Milk Used In Ritual
According to the organisers, 251 kg of milk was used for the abhishek of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s portrait. Supporters participated in prayers and worship during the ceremony.
Similar events have reportedly been organised by supporters of Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bhagwanpur in the past. Supporters gathered at the venue during Sunday’s ceremony.
