Patna: Shriram Taranikanti, Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), recently toured Bapu Tower in Patna, a monument dedicated to the life and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Accompanied by Kumar Ravi, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Building Construction Department, Taranikanti explored the tower’s exhibits, which showcase Gandhi’s legacy and Bihar’s initiatives inspired by his philosophy.
During his visit, Taranikanti observed an array of displays, including paintings, murals, audio-visual presentations, and short films, all designed to highlight key moments from Gandhi’s life and the social reforms he championed. The galleries also feature exhibits detailing state government schemes rooted in Gandhian principles of non-violence, equality, and rural development.
Bapu Tower, located in Gardanibagh, is a six-story structure standing 120 feet tall. It was inaugurated on October 2, 2024, by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to commemorate Gandhi’s enduring legacy. The monument’s striking architecture, including its copper-clad exterior, has drawn significant attention. The exterior oxidizes over time, creating a distinctive rainbow-hued appearance that symbolizes the diversity of Gandhi’s ideals.
The tower serves as both a museum and a center for reflection, aiming to educate visitors about Gandhi’s principles while fostering a deeper understanding of their relevance in contemporary society. Since its inauguration, Bapu Tower has become a significant cultural and educational landmark, attracting visitors from across the country.
Speaking about the monument, Kumar Ravi highlighted its role as a bridge between the past and present, emphasizing the importance of Gandhi’s teachings in addressing modern challenges. Taranikanti expressed his admiration for the structure and its thoughtful presentation of Gandhi’s life and values.
