Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has finalised the distribution of portfolios among the 26 cabinet ministers of the newly formed NDA government. This allocation has placed Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) in a strong position, with two of its ministers assigned key departments. The move clearly reflects the political weight of the LJP within the ruling alliance.
Sanjay Singh, MLA from the Mahua constituency in Vaishali district, has been appointed Minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). His electoral victory was notable, as he defeated RJD candidate Mukesh Kumar Roshan, while Tej Pratap Yadav — son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and former minister — finished third. With PHED playing a major role in improving drinking water and sanitation services across Bihar, Singh’s role will have a significant impact on public welfare.
Another cabinet position has gone to Sanjay Paswan, MLA from the Bakhri constituency in Begusarai district, who has been appointed Minister of Sugarcane Industry. A first-time MLA and graduate from Pokhariya, Begusarai, Paswan entered the assembly after Bakhri became a reserved seat for the first time. He secured a decisive win by defeating Suryakant Paswan with a margin of more than 17,000 votes.
The allocation of PHED and Sugarcane Industry to LJP (Ram Vilas) ministers underscores the NDA’s approach to balancing power among alliance partners. As both ministers step into roles that directly affect rural livelihoods and essential services, their performance is expected to shape the early public perception of the new state government.
