Madhepura: Madhepura will host a three-day Passport Seva Mobile Van Camp from May 24 to 26, at the Collectorate Campus, as the Ministry of External Affairs continues efforts to expand doorstep delivery of passport services in Bihar.
Organised by the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Patna, under the “Passport Seva – Passport at Your Doorstep” initiative, the camp aims to provide local residents with easier access to passport-related services, particularly in areas without dedicated passport offices.
Officials said Madhepura currently does not have a standalone passport office due to the existing constituency-based service framework, under which certain districts are mapped to nearby passport service centres. The mobile camp, they added, is intended to bridge that gap by bringing application processing closer to applicants.
The camp will be jointly inaugurated on May 24 by the district magistrate, Abhishek Ranjan, and the regional passport officer for Patna, Swadha Rizvi.
Authorities pointed to the strong response to an earlier camp held in the district between January 28 and 30, 2026 during which 165 applications were processed. The latest camp has been planned in response to that demand. Officials noted that this is the first time two such camps have been organised in the same district, signalling what they described as an effort to deepen outreach.
Over the three days, 165 appointments will be handled in total, with 55 slots available per day. Applications will be processed on-site, and citizens can book appointments through the Passport Seva Portal by selecting the Madhepura mobile camp option.
The Patna RPO said the Madhepura camp will be the 18th mobile passport camp held in Bihar since April 2024. Across the state, more than 2,300 applications have been processed through similar initiatives.
Officials added that passport infrastructure in Bihar has been expanded under a parliamentary constituency-based model. The state now has 38 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras and two Passport Seva Kendras under the RPO Patna headquarters, with the most recent addition being the Ramnagar Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in West Champaran.
The ministry has said the mobile camps are part of wider efforts to improve accessibility and reduce travel burdens for applicants in semi-urban and rural districts.
