New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to expand its fast electric vehicle (EV) charging network across India, as the company looks to strengthen its presence in the growing EV market.
Under the agreement, Mahindra will install its Charge_iN fast chargers at HPCL fuel stations nationwide, significantly increasing the availability of high-speed charging infrastructure for EV users.
HPCL operates more than 24,400 fuel stations across the country and already runs over 5,400 EV charging points under its in-house brand, e-Charge. The collaboration is expected to leverage this existing network to accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
The companies said the chargers installed through the partnership will support peak charging speeds of up to 180 kW, enabling faster turnaround times for EV users. These chargers will also be compatible with Mahindra’s existing Charge_iN network, which was launched last year.
Mahindra has outlined plans to install 1,000 charging points across India by 2027 as part of its broader strategy to build a robust EV ecosystem.
The move comes as the company continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio. Earlier this month, Mahindra launched the Cineluxe Edition of the XEV 9e, priced at Rs 29.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The model is equipped with a 79 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of over 500 km on a full charge. It delivers a power output of 210 kW and peak torque of 380 Nm. Currently, the vehicle is available in a rear-wheel drive configuration, with no all-wheel drive variant announced.
Industry observers say such partnerships between automakers and fuel retailers are key to addressing range anxiety and encouraging wider adoption of electric vehicles in India.
