Aurangabad: A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Aurangabad on suspicion of raping a nine-year-old girl after allegedly luring her with cartoons on his mobile phone. The incident, which reportedly occurred on Thursday night, came to light on Saturday when the girl’s father filed a police report.

The accused, Prakash Ram, a resident of Raghaulia village, was swiftly apprehended by the Fesar police and has since been sent to jail after being presented in court.

According to the Station House Officer (SHO), an FIR was lodged under the POCSO Act following the father’s written complaint. The SHO stated that Prakash Ram allegedly kept the victim with him after showing cartoons to a group of girls, sending the others home before the assault.

Upon returning home, the young victim informed her family of the incident. When police arrived in the village, residents reportedly disclosed that Ram had been involved in similar incidents with other minor girls in the past. However, no formal complaints had been filed previously due to villagers’ concerns about their “prestige.”

SHO Varsha Kumari confirmed that the arrested accused has admitted his involvement in the incident.
