New Delhi: Bhojpuri Dabangs made a dominant start to their Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) 2025 campaign, securing a commanding eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Heroes at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Skippered by Manoj Tiwari, the Dabangs outclassed their opponents, with all-rounder Asghar Khan delivering a match-winning performance.

Mumbai Heroes Struggle to Set a Competitive Target

After winning the toss, Bhojpuri Dabangs opted to bowl first, a decision that proved highly effective. Mumbai Heroes managed only 125 for 7 in their allotted 10 overs, with Saqib Saleem Qureshi (35) and Siddhant Ravindra Mouli (37) offering some resistance. Vikrant Singh and Asghar Khan picked up two wickets each, restricting Mumbai Heroes to a modest total.

Bhojpuri Dabangs Take the Lead

In response, the Dabangs put up a strong batting display, posting 150 in their first innings to take a crucial 25-run lead. Asghar Khan was the standout performer, remaining unbeaten on 96, while opener Aditya Ojha contributed 38.

Mumbai Heroes Falter Again

Mumbai Heroes struggled in their second innings, losing Mouli for a duck early on. Shabbir Ahluwalia revived hopes with a blistering 82 off 32 balls, but Khan struck again—this time with a crucial run-out—to shift momentum back in Bhojpuri Dabangs’ favour. Mumbai Heroes finished at 128 for 4, with Nishant Dahiya adding 33.

Chasing 103 for victory, Bhojpuri Dabangs made light work of the target, reaching it in just 5.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Khan capped off his all-round brilliance with an unbeaten 58, while Ojha remained not out on 21, ensuring a comprehensive win.

A Match to Remember for Asghar Khan

Khan’s all-round heroics—scores of 96* and 58*, along with two wickets and a run-out—made him the undisputed star of the match. Bhojpuri Dabangs will look to carry forward this momentum as they aim for CCL 2025 glory.
