Patna: Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari met Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna in Delhi on Wednesday and raised a series of demands related to railway connectivity and passenger facilities in Bihar.
A key demand was a change in the operating schedule of the Patna-Thawe Intercity, along with measures to reduce its travel time.
Earlier Departure Sought For Patna-Thawe Intercity
Tiwari requested that the train depart from Patna Junction at 5am and from Thawe Junction at 7pm.
At present, the train leaves Patna at 12.10pm and reaches Thawe at 7pm. On the return journey, it departs Thave at 8.05pm and arrives at Patna at 3.20am.
Vande Bharat Via Gorakhpur-Gopalganj Route
The Education Minister also proposed introducing a Vande Bharat train service to Patna via the Gorakhpur-Gopalganj-Mashrakh route.
The proposed service would provide high-speed rail connectivity to passengers travelling along the route.
Stoppage At Sidhwalia Sought
Tiwari also requested a stoppage for the Tapti-Ganga Express at Sidhwalia station.
He further sought the development of Baikunthpur and Sidhwalia railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Scheme.
Faster ROB And RUB Construction
The minister also raised the need to expedite construction of the Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dighwa Dubouli.
During the meeting, Tiwari prioritised the issues concerning regional rail connectivity, train services and passenger amenities in Bihar.
