Muzaffarpur: A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, where a mother and her two innocent children were found dead inside their home on Tuesday morning. The tragic incident took place in Bajhila village under the Kanti police station area. The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Rita Devi, her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Vaishnavi Kumari, and her seven-month-old son Rudra Kumar. Their sudden and mysterious deaths have left the entire village in deep shock and sorrow.
According to family members, the three bodies were discovered inside a room that was locked from the outside. All three were allegedly tied together with a cloth rope. Injury marks were found on their necks, and blood was reportedly coming from their noses. As soon as the news spread, a large crowd gathered outside the house, and cries of grief filled the area. The incident has created fear and anger not only in the village but also in nearby areas.
Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information. Senior officers, including the Rural SP, SDPO and Kanti police station SHO, inspected the scene. A forensic science team was also called to collect evidence from the room and examine the bodies. After the investigation at the scene, the bodies were sent to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, for postmortem. Police say they are investigating the case from every angle.
The woman’s husband, Santosh Kumar Sah, also known as Mithailal Sah, told police that he had gone to Samastipur on Monday night with his brother to attend a wedding procession. He said he had spoken to his wife around 10 pm. When he returned home around 3 am, he found the room locked from outside. After opening the door, he saw the bodies of his wife and children inside. He has accused his four cousins and their family members of murder due to an ongoing land dispute. He also claimed that the accused had threatened him earlier.
The family said Rita Devi had four children. At the time of the incident, her elder daughter Nitya Kumari, aged seven, and son Aditya Kumar, aged five, were sleeping outside the room with their grandparents. Rita Devi was sleeping inside with the two younger children. A sister-in-law was in another nearby room and reportedly did not hear anything during the night. Police have detained two women for questioning, while the accused cousins are still absconding. Raids are being conducted to arrest them, and the exact cause of death will be known after the postmortem report.
