Patna: The monsoon is regaining momentum in Bihar, with the Meteorological Center issuing a yellow alert for rain in 19 districts, including Patna, on Thursday. Light to moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by winds reaching up to 40 km/h.
Over the past 24 hours, Munger and Rajgir witnessed heavy rainfall, bringing relief from the heat. Meanwhile, Patna experienced a scorching day, with humid conditions making it uncomfortable for residents.
Flood-Like Situation in Supaul
Continuous rainfall in Nepal has caused the Kosi river to swell, resulting in a flood-like situation in Supaul district. On Monday night, 2.75 lakh cusecs of water were discharged from the Kosi Barrage, with 34 out of 56 gates opened. Villages located within the east-west embankment in areas including Basantpur, Nirmali, Marouna, Saraigarh-Bhaptiyahi, Kishanpur, and the Sadar zone are currently experiencing inundation.
Monsoon Outlook: September 11–18
Ashish Kumar, a scientist at the Meteorological Center, said, “There is a likelihood of above-normal rainfall in September. While the monsoon is expected to remain weak until September 10, it will become active from September 11 onwards. Heavy rains may occur in several districts of the state until September 18.”

Patna is expected to see a change in weather conditions today. The sky will remain cloudy, with intermittent light showers likely. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, providing much-needed relief from the humid heat.

According to the Meteorological Center in Pune, several factors are contributing to the renewed monsoon activity in Bihar:
