Muzaffarpur: Police have intensified action against the public broadcasting of obscene, double-entendre and vulgar songs, particularly in buses, auto-rickshaws and trucks. The campaign also covers misleading and objectionable social media posts, according to a press release issued by the SSP’s office.
Two separate FIRs have been registered at the Muzaffarpur Cyber Police Station in connection with social media content, while police teams are conducting raids to identify and arrest those accused.
Monitoring Songs In Public Vehicles
According to the police, obscene and double-entendre songs are frequently played in public vehicles and at gatherings. The administration has directed officials to take action against such broadcasts, citing concerns over their impact on women, children and young people.
Under the enforcement drive, action can be taken against vehicle drivers and owners, as well as others found responsible for playing such material in public places.
Vehicles And Sound Systems May Be Seized
Police have warned that vehicles found violating the directives may be seized along with their sound systems and other equipment.
The administration has specifically directed officials to prevent the public broadcasting of vulgar Bhojpuri songs and other indecent music during the campaign.
Action Over Social Media Posts
The police are also monitoring social media posts that are allegedly misleading, obscene or capable of creating animosity between regional groups.
Posts involving Bihar’s languages, dialects and culture that are found to be contributing to social tension are also being investigated, according to the police.
Separate teams have been formed to trace the individuals behind such posts and take further action in accordance with the law.
Police Intensify Digital Monitoring
The campaign extends beyond public vehicles and places to social media platforms, where police are examining the content, circulation and involvement of individuals linked to objectionable posts.
The administration said the campaign aims to curb indecent content in public spaces while addressing misleading and inflammatory material circulated online.
