Muzaffarpur: Muzaffarpur’s young boxing sensation Pragati Raj has scripted history by winning the gold medal at the 2026 Sub-Junior National Boxing Championship, becoming the national champion for the second consecutive year. The achievement also makes her the first female boxer from Bihar to secure back-to-back Sub-Junior national titles.
The championship also turned into a memorable outing for Bihar, with four boxers from the state winning medals and reinforcing Bihar’s growing presence in Indian boxing.
Gold in the 64 kg Category
According to Ranveer Kumar Amar, Secretary of the Muzaffarpur Boxing Association, and coach Bablu Dev, Pragati clinched the gold medal in the 64 kg category at the 2026 Sub-Junior Girls National Boxing Championship, organised at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab.
The victory follows her gold-medal triumph at the 2025 Sub-Junior National Boxing Championship, underlining her consistency at the national level.
Bihar Boxers Shine on the National Stage
Apart from Pragati Raj, three other boxers from Bihar also delivered medal-winning performances at the championship.

- Nitya Pandey (Aurangabad) – Gold
- Veer (Bhagalpur) – Bronze
- Lucky (Munger) – Bronze
Their performances helped Bihar register one of its strongest showings in the competition.
Journey from Muzaffarpur to Delhi
Pragati began her boxing career with the Muzaffarpur Boxing Association before moving to Delhi for advanced coaching and professional training.
Her father serves in the Indian Army and is currently posted in Hisar, Haryana. With the support of her family and years of disciplined training, Pragati has emerged as one of the country’s brightest young boxing talents.

Congratulating the medal winners, Smita Kumari, General Secretary of the Bihar Boxing Association, and Rajeev Kumar Singh, Chairman of the Association, praised the athletes, their coaches and parents for their dedication.
