Muzaffarpur: A shocking murder took place in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, where a woman killed her husband after suspecting he was having an affair. The incident happened in Chitraguptapuri on Madipur’s Ramraji Road. Police said that Panchayat Rozgar Sevak Mohammad Mumtaz was sleeping when his wife, Saba Firdaus, slit his throat with a knife and stabbed him several times.
Before committing the murder, Saba threw away her husband’s two mobile phones and one of her own into a drain, and hid the CCTV DVR in bushes to destroy evidence. Police found a handwritten note in the children’s room that said, “I am ready to lose but I will play a great game.” Officers believe she wrote it while planning the murder, inspired by a TV serial she had watched.
Police said Saba was angry with Mumtaz because he used to beat her and she thought he was having an affair. She feared that he might kill her one day. Saba, an IT expert, had hacked into her husband’s phone using a tracking app to check his calls and messages. She had also tried to clear UPSC and BPSC exams but failed, which made her feel frustrated.
Saba and Mumtaz had eloped and married 13 years ago against their families’ wishes, as Mumtaz was her elder sister’s brother-in-law. The police have recovered the knife used in the murder, a cut lock, DVR, mobile phones, laptop, and tablet. SSP Sushil Kumar said Saba has been arrested and sent to jail. The charge sheet will be filed soon, and the case will be heard in a speedy trial.
