Gayaji: A strange and worrying incident has been reported from Kachauri village in the Sherghati block of Gayaji district, Bihar. A family claims that their house has been catching fire repeatedly for the past seven days. The fires have damaged different parts of the house, including rooms and a small shop. The repeated incidents have created fear in the family and shock among villagers, who are struggling to understand how this could happen.
The family believes the trouble began around 15 days ago when a sadhu came to their house asking for food. The house owner, Lakhan Mistri, said the sadhu asked for bread. When his daughter-in-law said there was no bread at home, she offered him rice and water instead. According to the family, the sadhu became angry, pushed the plate away and cursed them before leaving, saying their house would catch fire. A few days later, the first fire broke out.
Lakhan Mistri said the fires start suddenly and without warning. Sometimes clothes catch fire, sometimes bedding, grain, cots and even the kitchen stove. The family says there is no electricity connection in the house and no clear reason for the fires. Fearing for their safety, they have moved out and are now living on the roadside with their belongings, spending cold nights under the open sky.
The incident has led to many rumours in the village. Some people believe it is a curse or black magic, while others think it could be a planned act. Former Kachauri panchayat head and BJP leader Santosh Kumar Gupta visited the family and said the matter needs a serious investigation. He urged the administration to help the family, who are currently homeless and living in difficult conditions. The cause of the fires is still unclear, and the family continues to wait for help and answers.
