Patna: Bihar celebrated World Youth Skills Day 2025 with great pride on Monday. During a big event in Patna, Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh gave an offer letter to Rohit Kumar Gupta from Nalanda, who has got a job in Japan with an annual package of Rs 24 lakh. The event was organised by Bihar Skill Development Mission at Dashrath Manjhi Labour and Employment Study Institute. Many top officials including Department Secretary Deepak Anand, Special Secretary Alok Kumar, Labour Commissioner Rajesh Bharti, and Mission Director Manish Shankar were present.
Speaking at the event, Minister Santosh Kumar Singh said that World Youth Skills Day is not just a celebration but a way to show the strength of Bihar’s youth. He said that along with traditional education, it is important for young people to learn technical and digital skills so that they can compete globally. He mentioned that the government is working on programmes like Centre of Excellence and Kushal Yuva in partnership with Tata Group, which will help provide jobs or self-employment to more than one crore youth in the next five years.
Secretary Deepak Anand said the theme of this year is ‘Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills’. He added that today’s world needs people who know advanced skills like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, and Digital Marketing. More than 60,000 youth had applied in the five-day Mega Job Fair organised from 10-15 July. Out of these, over 10,000 were interviewed and more than 4,000 got job offers. Apart from Rohit, Rajkumar from Khagaria got a job in Dubai with a Rs 12 lakh package, while Rihan, Muskan Kumari, and Suman Kumar got jobs in Dubai with packages of over Rs 11 lakh each.
During the programme, the government also launched a centralised portal for vocational and technical education and released a QR code for registration in the state skill competition. Two MoUs were signed – one with Swing Stater (India) Pvt. Ltd. for training, and another with Lovely Creation to promote Madhubani painting and local art. The event ended with the launch of ‘Kaushal Rath’ which will travel across Bihar to spread awareness about skill programmes and job opportunities for the youth.
