Patna: The Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) has commissioned a new 132/33 kV Grid Substation at Chandi in Nalanda district, marking another step in the state’s efforts to strengthen its power transmission infrastructure.
The project, energised on July 29, also includes the commissioning of the 132 kV Double Circuit Chandi–Harnaut Transmission Line and two 50 MVA power transformers. According to BSPTCL, the infrastructure will improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply across several parts of Nalanda district.
Improved Electricity Supply Across Nine Blocks
The new grid substation is expected to provide a more reliable power supply to Chandi, Chainpur, Birnawan, Nagarnausa, Noorsarai, Bhobhi, Indaut, Diyawan and Tharthari, along with nearby areas.
Officials said the project will strengthen the transmission network, improve voltage quality and support uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers in the region.

State Government Highlights Infrastructure Push
Ajay Kumar Yadav, IAS, Energy Secretary, Government of Bihar, and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), said the state government is continuing to invest in a modern and robust power infrastructure.
He said the commissioning of the Chandi Grid Substation represents another milestone in improving the quality of electricity supply and is expected to support Bihar’s broader development objectives.
Meeting Rising Power Demand
Nawal Kishore Choudhary, IAS, Managing Director of BSPTCL, said the project would significantly strengthen the transmission network in Nalanda district by improving supply reliability and voltage stability.
He added that the new infrastructure would help meet increasing domestic, agricultural, commercial and industrial electricity demand while reducing transmission overloading and enabling the network to accommodate future growth.
Strengthening Bihar’s Transmission Network
According to BSPTCL, the Chandi project forms part of the Bihar government’s ongoing programme to expand and modernise the state’s electricity transmission infrastructure.
The company said the addition of new grid substations, transmission lines and power transformers is intended to strengthen the network and ensure a safe, reliable and high-quality power supply for consumers across the state.
