Nalanda School Mid-Day Meal Sickens 80 Children; Inquiry Ordered

Biharsharif/Patna: A mid-day meal incident at Shri Chandpur Primary School in the Harnaut block of Nalanda district resulted in 80 children falling ill on Friday, prompting an immediate investigation into the quality of the school’s food.
The children, who were served eggs and rice, began experiencing stomach aches, dizziness, and vomiting shortly after consuming the meal. The school administration promptly alerted local health officials and rushed the affected children to Kalyan Vigha Referral Hospital.
A team of doctors at the hospital provided treatment, and all 80 children are now reported to be out of danger.
The incident triggered a swift response from district administration officials, who visited the school to assess the situation. District Education Officer Rajkumar has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident, focusing on the quality of the mid-day meal and any potential negligence during food preparation.
“Efforts are being made to find out whether there was any problem in the quality of food or any negligence was done while cooking,” said District Education Officer Rajkumar. “Considering the seriousness of the matter, orders for investigation have been given. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.”
