NALANDA: In a significant step towards improving student welfare and strengthening the academic environment, the Nalanda district administration has launched a new grievance redressal mechanism through monthly ‘Student Support Camps’ across educational institutions and hostels in the district.
Under the initiative, camps will be organized on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 54 major institutions, including government degree colleges, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), medical and technical institutes, and welfare hostels.
The camps will bring together administrative officials and police officers to interact directly with students and address concerns related to academics, hostel facilities, security, sanitation, electricity, water supply and other civic amenities. The administration has directed that complaints received during the camps be resolved within 30 days.
To ensure easier access to assistance, the district administration has also issued a dedicated helpline number 1100, through which students can seek information and support.
Camps to Cover Degree Colleges Across Nalanda
The initiative will cover both established and newly established government degree colleges in the district. Institutions included under the programme are Kisan College, Sohsarai; Nalanda College, Biharsharif; SPM College, Udantpuri; Nalanda Mahila College; S.U. College, Hilsa; and Rajgir Degree College.
Student Support Camps will also be held at newly established degree colleges in Bind, Karaiparsurai, Katrisarai, Nagarnausa, Noorsarai, Parwalpur, Rahui, Sarmera and Tharthari.
Focus on Safety and Welfare of Girl Students
As part of the initiative, administrative teams will visit all 20 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in the district to hear students’ concerns and review facilities. The schools covered include those located in Asthawan, Ben, Biharsharif, Bind, Chandi, Ekangarsarai, Giriyak, Harnaut, Hilsa, Islampur, Karaiparsurai, Katrisarai, Nagarnausa, Noorsarai, Parwalpur, Rahui, Rajgir, Sarmera, Silao and Tharthari.
Officials said the move aims to strengthen student safety, improve hostel facilities and ensure timely redressal of grievances faced by girl students.
Technical Institutes and Welfare Hostels Included
The programme will also extend to higher and technical education institutions, including Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Pawapuri, Government Dental College at Paithana in Rahui, the ANM School in Islampur and Government ITIs located in Asthawan-Kalyan Bigha, Hilsa, Rajgir and Sarmera.
Students residing in welfare hostels such as Dr Ambedkar Welfare Hostels, B.B. Sogra Minority Boys’ Hostel, Ambedkar Hostel in Islampur, Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Hostel in Deepnagar and the OBC Hostel at Rana Bigha will also benefit from the initiative.
According to the administration, students will no longer need to repeatedly visit government offices for issues related to electricity, water supply, security and other basic facilities, as officials will address such concerns directly during the camps.
