Rajgir: Nalanda University has taken a significant step in fostering global and intercultural academic collaboration, signing two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) this week with leading Indian spiritual institutes and a Russian university.
On Friday, the university formalised an agreement with Jyot and Gitarth Ganga, Mumbai-based spiritual research institutes, focusing on the preservation, compilation, and publication of rare Jain manuscripts and other Indic texts. The signing ceremony in Mumbai saw the presence of Pujya Pāṇḍit Mahārāj Saheb Yugbhūṣaṇsūri Ji and Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The MoU was signed by Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice-Chancellor of Nalanda University, alongside Jyot Trustee Dr Bhaskar Shah and Gitarth Ganga Trustee Nishit Zaveri.

As part of the partnership, Nalanda University will serve as a ‘Knowledge Partner’ for the upcoming Conclave on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“The World is One Family”), further promoting intercultural dialogue and Indian knowledge systems.
Earlier in the week, the university also signed an MoU with Kalmyk State University in Russia through a hybrid ceremony. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in Buddhist studies, Oriental languages, and cultural research. The event was attended by Professor Chaturvedi, Indian Embassy representatives Nikhilesh Chandra Giri and Vinay Kumar, and hosted by Professor Badma Katinovich Salaev, Rector of Kalmyk State University.
These twin collaborations underscore Nalanda University’s ambition to bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary scholarship, cultivating civilizational dialogue across borders while reinforcing its position as a hub of global learning.
