Rajgir/Patna: Nalanda University and South Asian University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in academic and research programmes.
The agreement was formalised at the Nalanda University campus in Rajgir, with the signing carried out by K. K. Aggarwal and Sachin Chaturvedi in the presence of academics, officials and students.
Aggarwal said the partnership would expand collaboration across academic and research domains, creating new opportunities for students of both institutions. Chaturvedi described the agreement as a “new beginning” in institutional engagement, adding that it would enable students to benefit from shared intellectual resources and best academic practices.
Focus on research and exchange
The MoU outlines a broad framework for collaboration, including joint research supervision, teaching programmes, postdoctoral opportunities, academic conferences, symposiums and publications. It also provides for the exchange of faculty, researchers and students, alongside the sharing of academic resources.
Both institutions are international universities governed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and are recognised for their regional focus and global outlook.

Economics fest highlights AI’s impact
The development comes alongside Nalanda University hosting “Artha-Nalanda 2026”, its annual economics festival, held from April 04 to 06.
Centred on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and the Evolving Economic Landscape”, the event featured keynote sessions, debates and competitions examining the impact of AI on global economic systems.
Among the speakers were Meenakshi Lekhi, Deepak Mishra, Aggarwal and Chaturvedi, as well as media and industry figures including Anilesh Mahajan and Siddhartha Shankar.
Organisers said the event brought together academics, experts and students, fostering discussion on emerging economic challenges and opportunities in an increasingly AI-driven world.
