Patna: The National Lok Adalat will be held on Saturday at the Civil Court in Patna Sadar and the sub-divisional courts in Patna City, Danapur, Barh, Masaurhi and Paliganj, providing litigants an opportunity to settle eligible disputes through conciliation and mutual consent.
Cases that can be resolved through compromise will be taken up for speedy disposal with the agreement of the parties. No court fee is charged for settlements reached through the Lok Adalat.
Range of disputes to be taken up
The Lok Adalat will hear cases across several categories, including compoundable minor criminal cases, matters under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, matrimonial and family disputes, motor vehicle accident claims, civil suits, labour disputes and bank loan recovery cases, among others that are legally amenable to settlement.
Cases will be disposed of on the basis of mutual consent between the parties.
Special camp for pending traffic challans
Alongside the court-based proceedings, a special camp has been set up near Gate No. 7 of Gandhi Maidan to settle traffic challans that have remained pending for more than three months.
The camp has 30 benches, where vehicle owners and challan holders can approach for settlement in accordance with applicable rules. Eligible concessions under relevant provisions will also be made available.

Settlement through the Lok Adalat can help litigants save time and money, while reducing the need for repeated visits to courts.
Anamika T., Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, Patna, has appealed to residents of the district to participate in large numbers in the National Lok Adalat.
She said the forum provides an effective platform for the speedy resolution of disputes through mutual consent and in an atmosphere of harmony, while also helping reduce the burden of pending cases on regular courts.
