Samastipur: The managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL), Rahul Kumar, carried out surprise inspections of two key power facilities in Samastipur district on Thursday, reviewing safety standards, operational readiness and ongoing infrastructure works.
Kumar visited the 33/11 kV power substation at Magardahi Chowk and the newly built 220/132/33 kV grid substation at Tajpur, where he examined control panels, feeder meters and operational registers. Officials said the visit focused on ensuring that substations are functioning efficiently and in line with prescribed technical and safety norms.
During the inspection, the managing director assessed the availability and condition of safety and fire-fighting equipment and instructed staff to strictly follow established safety protocols while carrying out electrical operations. He also emphasised adherence to standard operating procedures in the maintenance of substations, transmission lines and grid infrastructure, directing that all maintenance records be updated regularly.
At the Tajpur grid campus, Kumar reviewed the progress of residential quarters being built for engineers and employees and asked officials to complete the housing project within the stipulated timeline. He also inspected the control room to assess power availability and the overall reliability of grid operations.
In a push to improve supply efficiency, he directed engineers to quickly place load on the newly constructed 33 kV outgoing feeders that are currently energised but running without load, aiming to optimise distribution and strengthen service delivery in the region.
