Patna: The Bihar government has announced free bus travel for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination scheduled for June 21.
Under the initiative, NEET aspirants will be allowed to travel without paying any fare on all buses operated by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC). The facility has been introduced to ensure that students can reach their examination centres without facing transportation-related difficulties.
Free Travel Across Bihar
According to official instructions, the free travel facility will be available on all BSRTC-operated buses, including Pink Buses and regular passenger services. Candidates across Bihar, including those travelling from districts such as Bhagalpur, Munger and Jamui, will be eligible for the benefit.
Valid for Both Journeys
The facility will cover travel to the examination centre as well as the return journey after the examination.
Officials said public transport services often witness increased demand on examination days, creating challenges for students. The decision has been taken to ease travel and help candidates reach their centres on time.
Admit Card Required
Candidates must carry a photocopy or printed copy of their NEET admit card while travelling. The admit card will serve as proof of eligibility for the free travel facility.
Bus staff will verify the document before allowing fare-free travel.
Government Focused on Student Convenience
Amit Kumar, Regional Manager of the Bhagalpur Road Transport Corporation, said the facility has been introduced following government directions to ensure that no student is deprived of appearing in the examination due to transportation issues.
He said the initiative is aimed at helping candidates travel comfortably and reach their examination centres without unnecessary stress.
