Patna: Speculation continues over the potential political debut of Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, after a statement from Janata Dal (United) executive president Sanjay Jha. Speaking to reporters at Patna Airport, Jha said that party members and supporters are eager for Nishant to join JD(U), but the decision ultimately rests with him.
“We all want the same, but now it is up to him to decide when he will join the party,” Jha said. Nishant Kumar was present during the meeting but did not comment on his political plans.
Reflecting on the NDA’s recent electoral success in Bihar, Nishant described the victory as a blessing from the people. “The people of Bihar have once again reposed their trust in my father and the NDA. My father fulfilled his previous promises, and this time too, he will deliver on the promise of 10 million jobs. I have full faith in him,” he said, without addressing questions about his own political ambitions.
Talk of Nishant’s entry into politics has circulated since before the Bihar elections, with JD(U) workers and leaders publicly urging him to join. Posters promoting his political role have appeared in Patna, and several NDA allies, along with opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, have encouraged him to consider a political career.
At present, however, Nishant Kumar has remained non-committal, leaving the timing and nature of any potential political engagement unclear.
