Patna: A week after taking charge as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national working president, Bankipur MLA Nitin Nabin arrived in Patna on Tuesday to a rapturous reception from party workers, turning his homecoming into a display of political muscle that disrupted traffic and dominated the city’s streets.
Nabin, who had flown in from Delhi for a two-day visit, left the airport standing atop a decorated chariot, flanked by Bihar’s deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, along with BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi. What followed was a six-kilometre roadshow from the airport through Nehru Path (Bailey Road) to the Miller High School grounds, marked by saffron flags, drumbeats, flower showers and chants hailing the newly elevated leader.
The scale of the turnout briefly overwhelmed security arrangements. The chariot remained stationary for several minutes at the airport gate as police struggled to clear a path through the crowd. Traffic in the airport area was backed up for over a kilometre, forcing some air passengers to abandon vehicles and walk with luggage to catch flights.

Party organisers had arranged an elaborate welcome, complete with elephants, camels and horses, while groups of women in traditional attire danced to Bhojpuri songs celebrating the BJP’s leadership. Welcome arches and flower showers lined the route, giving the procession the feel of a festival rather than a routine political reception.
Throughout the journey, Nabin acknowledged supporters with folded hands and waves, while senior leaders accompanying him urged party workers on. The show of solidarity was intended to underline Nabin’s new role at the national level and his continuing importance within Bihar politics.
Addressing the gathering later, state BJP president Sanjay Saraogi framed Nabin’s elevation as both an honour and a responsibility. He said the Bihar unit would work in close coordination with the government to advance the party’s wider goal of contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.
#Swagatam_NitinNabinji pic.twitter.com/Z0b2Bv9hZu

From the administration’s standpoint, additional police forces were deployed along the route, and while no untoward incident was reported, normal movement in parts of the city was disrupted for several hours.
The roadshow, with its scale and symbolism, served as a clear message of organisational confidence. For the BJP in Bihar, Nabin’s return was not merely a celebratory welcome, but an assertion of strength ahead of the next phase of political mobilisation in the state.
