Patna: Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday visited the skill development park at the Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development campus in Patna, where he reviewed ongoing training programmes and facilities for trainees.
During the inspection, CM Nitish toured classrooms and interacted with students enrolled in various courses, encouraging them to focus on their training. He said the state government remained committed to expanding employment opportunities and equipping young people with technical skills to become self-reliant.
Officials said the chief minister also reviewed residential and dining facilities available to trainees and issued instructions to ensure proper maintenance of the premise and the wellbeing of those enrolled. He visited the Himadri hostel and sought updates on arrangements across other residential blocks.
The BIPARD skill park currently runs six major programmes aimed at both government personnel and young jobseekers. These include networking certification courses such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), as well as training in geriatric caregiving, fashion design, culinary work and assistant baking technology.
Trainees are provided with free accommodation, meals, training kits and uniforms. In addition to technical instruction, the programmes also offer language training in English and foreign languages including German, French, Spanish and Japanese, aimed at improving employability in domestic and international job markets.
According to officials, a total of 667 young trainees have undergone capacity-building programmes at the facility so far, of whom 204 have secured employment opportunities in India and abroad.
Senior officials present during the visit included the state’s water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena, and other senior administrative and police officials.
