Patna: Guided tours were launched on Wednesday at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, marking a shift towards a more structured and technology-driven visitor experience in the state capital.
On the first day of the initiative, around 700 visitors explored the zoo aboard eco-friendly e-carts, accompanied by trained guides who provided detailed insights into the wildlife and habitats across the park.
The guided tour service, available for a fee, allows visitors to travel across the zoo in electric vehicles while receiving curated information about different species. Visitors can access the facility by booking at a designated guide counter located near the main entrance.
Alongside guided tours, the zoo administration has introduced a suite of digital services aimed at improving convenience and engagement.
A newly launched “Zoo App” enables visitors to book tickets online, helping them avoid long queues at entry gates. The app also offers navigation features, allowing users to locate animal enclosures quickly and plan their visit more efficiently.
One of the app’s key features is its interactive information system. As visitors approach specific enclosures, they can access detailed descriptions of animals in both text and audio formats, transforming the visit into an educational experience.

The application also includes a “Lost and Found” feature to assist visitors in tracking misplaced belongings within the zoo premises.
To further enhance accessibility, free Wi-Fi has been made available throughout the park. Visitors can also book tickets through the zoo’s official website.
In addition, QR codes installed across the zoo premise allow visitors to scan and access detailed information about various plant species and trees, expanding the scope of learning beyond wildlife.
Officials said the combined introduction of guided tours and digital tools is aimed at making visits more informative, efficient and engaging, positioning the Patna zoo as a modern, visitor-friendly destination.
