Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday reviewed the progress of the Danapur–Bihta elevated corridor and inspected ongoing construction work at the upcoming Bihta airport, directing officials to expedite completion.
During the visit, Nitish conducted a detailed site inspection of the elevated corridor project and sought updates from officials on construction timelines and progress. He emphasised the need to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
The chief minister also visited the Bihta airport site, where officials briefed him on key components including the runway, passenger amenities and road connectivity. Using site maps, they outlined the development of infrastructure aimed at enhancing air travel facilities in the region.
Nitish inspected the road being constructed to connect the Danapur–Bihta elevated corridor with the airport and instructed officials to ensure its early completion. He also reviewed the runway located within the premises of the Indian Air Force station at Bihta.
Officials said the elevated corridor is designed to enable faster connectivity between the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport and the upcoming Bihta airport, reducing travel time significantly.
Nitish said the completion of the Bihta airport project would improve air connectivity across Bihar, ease operational pressure on Patna airport and provide passengers with enhanced facilities. He added that the project is also expected to generate employment and support business growth in the region.
Senior officials, including water resources minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and district authorities, were present during the inspection.
