Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of several development projects in Patna on Tuesday and directed officials to complete the ongoing work without delay. The visit focused mainly on major road and drainage construction sites that are expected to play an important role in reducing traffic problems and improving the city’s drainage system. The Chief Minister said speedy work is essential so that the public can benefit as soon as possible.
During the inspection, Nitish Kumar reviewed the construction of a four-lane road being built on top of an underground drainage structure along the Suspentine Drain from Patel Golambar to the western end of Eco Park and from the eastern end of Eco Park to Atal Path. Officials explained to him that the project involves paving the drain and building a road over it. The Chief Minister instructed them to ensure fast progress, stressing that the work must be completed soon so that traffic movement becomes easier and citizens get relief from waterlogging.
The Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing underground drain project at Rajiv Nagar. He said that once the construction is completed, the issue of waterlogging in the area will be resolved and the two-lane road planned above the drain will offer smooth travel for commuters. Nitish Kumar further visited the four-lane road being constructed over the Mandiri Nala and the connecting road that will link it to the J.P. Ganga Path. Officials informed him that the construction is moving quickly, and he directed them to prioritise finishing the Mandiri Nala stretch at the earliest.
Speaking after the inspection, Nitish Kumar said the government is constantly working to improve the traffic system of Patna while ensuring the city remains clean and organised. According to him, the timely completion of these projects will create alternative routes for residents and reduce pressure on busy roads. He added that strengthening the road network will make movement across the city smoother and more reliable.
The inspection was attended by several senior officials, including Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Nabin, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar, and senior officers from road construction, municipal bodies and the district administration. Their presence highlighted the government’s intention to monitor progress closely and ensure accountability at every stage of the development work.
