Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected the under-construction buildings of Bihar Health Sciences University and Bihar Engineering University in Mithapur, urging officials to ensure their swift completion.
During the visit, Dr Pratima S. Verma, Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, and Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Health Department, briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of the Bihar Health Sciences University project.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Nitish highlighted the role of the two institutions in providing high-quality technical and medical education to students across the state. “The construction of these universities must be completed efficiently and expeditiously,” he said. The Mithapur area already hosts prominent institutions such as Chandragupta Management Institute, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, NIFT, Chanakya Law University, and Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University, and Kumar noted that the completion of the new campuses would further enhance the area’s infrastructure.

Bihar Engineering University, established in July 2022, occupies five acres in Mithapur. Its four-storey main building will cover 111,732 square feet, with administrative offices, evaluation centres, multipurpose halls, and a guest house. Similarly, Bihar Health Sciences University, a flagship project under the state’s Saat Nischay-2 initiative, is being constructed across 27,567 square metres, including a main building with administrative and academic facilities, examination halls, dispensary, multipurpose platform, and an annex with the Vice Chancellor’s residence, guest house, and auditorium.

The inspection was attended by a host of senior officials, including Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, Managing Director of Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Nilesh Ramchandra Devre, District Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M., and the vice-chancellors of both universities, Dr Suresh Kant Verma and Dr Binde Kumar.
