Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday undertook an on-site review of two of Bihar’s most significant infrastructure projects — the Danapur–Bihta elevated corridor and the Sherpur–Dighwara Ganga bridge — issuing firm instructions to officials to accelerate construction and deliver the works “as soon as possible”.
During his visit to the Danapur–Bihta corridor, Nitish Kumar sought detailed updates from engineers and administrative officers. Officials briefed him that the project is progressing at a steady pace with no major hurdles reported.
Nitish Kumar emphasised the strategic importance of the corridor, saying it would “ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic movement from Bihta to Koilwar”. The link, he added, will integrate Patna city with NH-922, the Koilwar bridge, and serve as a crucial feeder corridor connecting the Ring Road at Kanhauli Mor, NH-139, and AIIMS Golambar. It will also provide direct access to the upcoming Bihta International Airport, strengthening Patna’s regional transport network.
“I have been monitoring this project continuously and offering suggestions whenever needed,” he said, urging the team to finish the work at the earliest.
CM Reviews Sherpur–Dighwara Ganga Bridge Work
CM Nitish then inspected the construction of the Sherpur–Dighwara Ganga bridge, another flagship project aimed at easing chronic congestion in and around Patna. Officials told him the bridge work was advancing rapidly, with all required materials supplied by the state government.
He also visited the point where the J.P. Ganga Path will link to the new bridge — a junction expected to significantly decongest city routes.
The Chief Minister said the completion of the Sherpur–Dighwara link would “greatly reduce pressure on Patna’s road network” and allow travellers heading to Chhapra, Siwan, Gopalganj and Hajipur to bypass the capital entirely. Together, the two projects will offer alternative routes across districts, reducing travel time and easing traffic loads.
“We have been constantly monitoring this project. It must be completed as soon as possible,” he reiterated.
