Patna: Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in a Republic Day flag hoisting ceremony on Monday at the Mahadalit Tola of Maranchi hamlet in Akauna gram panchayat, located in the Phulwari Sharif block of Patna district. The national flag was hoisted by Siddheshwar Manjhi, a senior resident of the hamlet, in the presence of the Chief Minister and local representatives.

Addressing the gathering, CM extended Republic Day greetings and said he was glad to be among the people. He noted that he has made it a practice to visit the Mahadalit Tola on Independence Day and Republic Day, adding that the local flag hoisting programme has been held regularly since 2011.
The Chief Minister outlined a series of development works planned for the area, responding to demands raised by residents. These include the construction of a community hall, a road connecting the hamlet to state highway 78, new health sub-centres, an additional primary health centre, and boundary walls for the local middle school. He also announced the renovation of ponds and traditional water bodies across the panchayat.

CM said the government’s priority was to maintain social harmony and brotherhood while accelerating development. He added that Bihar was progressing steadily and would see faster growth over the next five years, with support from the central government, enabling the state to rank among the country’s leading regions.
