Katihar: Katihar is on high alert today as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar descends on Sameli block for what is being hailed as a historic development push worth a staggering Rs.250 crore. From early morning, the district has been turned into a fortress, with magistrates, police officers, and baton guards deployed at every corner, ensuring not even a shadow of disturbance mars the CM’s high-profile visit.
The excitement is palpable as Nitish Kumar will first unveil the grand statue of Sahitya Ratna late Anup Lal Mandal, a moment expected to draw emotional applause from the people of the region.
But this is only the beginning. In a whirlwind tour packed into a few hours, Nitish Kumar will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects that promise to change the face of Katihar.
Rajendra Stadium will be transformed into a modern sports complex with an investment of Rs.28 crore, Gogabeel Lake will emerge as a new tourist hotspot with Rs.13.87 crore earmarked for its conservation, and Gorakhnath Dham will see world-class tourist facilities built at a cost of Rs.14.25 crore. Two much-awaited railway overbridges are also on the cards, expected to ease decades of traffic woes.
For the grand event, the skies themselves have been cleared for Nitish’s helicopter to land at specially-prepared helipads in Muradpur Panchayat and Dharampur Gandhi High School, Narhiya.
The foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremonies will be executed through state-of-the-art remote control systems, a spectacle that blends tradition with technology. Thousands of beneficiaries and supporters are expected to throng the school grounds where Nitish Kumar will directly interact with the people, reinforcing his image as a leader deeply connected to the masses.
Meanwhile, the administration has issued sweeping traffic diversions. Entire stretches of road have been declared off-limits, with heavy vehicles rerouted through alternate highways and rural roads, and complete bans imposed on traffic in sensitive zones near Narahiya. The city has effectively come to a standstill, as if holding its breath for the CM’s arrival.
For Katihar, today is not just another political event—it is being seen as a turning point in the district’s journey towards modernity and progress. With projects worth nearly Rs.250 crore set in motion, Nitish Kumar’s visit is being described as nothing short of a festival of development.
