Patna: Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra on June 8 reviewed pending grievances, allegations and vigilance cases within the department and directed officials to ensure time-bound disposal of complaints.

The review meeting focused on grievances raised by public representatives, including members of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Bihar Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

Fast-Track Disposal of Complaints

Mishra instructed officials to treat all pending complaints on a priority basis and ensure that no unnecessary delays occur in the grievance redressal process. He said delays in resolving issues linked to public representatives ultimately affect citizens’ concerns.

He also asked the department to develop a clear Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure uniformity, transparency and timely action in handling complaints.

Zero-Tolerance on Irregularities

The minister said the investigation of allegations must operate in “fast-track mode” to ensure swift action against officials found guilty. He reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption, negligence and irregular practices in the department.

According to the minister, strict action will be taken wherever wrongdoing is established after due process.

Fair and Transparent Inquiry System

Mishra emphasised that grievance investigations must remain impartial and fact-based. He also directed officials to carefully assess false or baseless complaints to prevent unnecessary impact on honest and performing officers.

He added that encouraging efficient officials is essential for strengthening administrative performance and governance outcomes.

Governance and Accountability Focus

Concluding the review, the minister said timely grievance resolution is central to improving governance, transparency and public trust. He directed officials to strengthen the grievance redressal system and ensure responsiveness to both citizens and elected representatives.
