Patna: Ahead of the Saras Mela at Gandhi Maidan, Patna traffic authorities have announced temporary traffic restrictions and diversions for Saturdays and Sundays to manage large crowds. The measures will be in effect from 12pm to 8pm on December 20, 21, 27, and 28.
During these hours, vehicles will be prohibited from travelling from Kargil Chowk to Children’s Park, and parking around Gandhi Maidan will not be allowed. The restrictions will also apply to three-wheeled vehicles, buses, handcarts, and street vendors.
Three-wheeled vehicles approaching Gandhi Maidan from Ashok Rajpath will be redirected back at the Double Decker point and will not be permitted to stop at Kargil Chowk. Buses passing through Kargil Chowk will be rerouted via Exhibition Road, while auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws heading towards the station will travel via Ramgulam Chowk to Exhibition Road or SP Verma Road, and then onto Buddha Marg. Movement from JP Golambar to Chhajju Bagh by three-wheeled vehicles will be completely banned.
A one-way system will operate for vehicles coming from JP Ganga Path, moving from Children’s Park towards Kargil Chowk. Traffic from Kargil Chowk to Children’s Park will be entirely suspended during the restricted hours.
Special parking arrangements have been made for visitors to the mela. The public can enter through Gate 12 and park in the open area near Gate 10, exiting only through the same gate. Authorities have also prohibited street vendors and hawkers from entering Gandhi Maidan and surrounding streets between 12pm and 8pm.
