Patna: Passengers on Vande Bharat Express trains can now enjoy a taste of India’s regional cuisine, as the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) introduces local delicacies on select routes.
On the 22349 Patna Junction–Ranchi Vande Bharat Express, travellers are being served Champaran Paneer, while the 22348 Patna Junction–Howrah service offers Champaran Chicken, both celebrated for their authentic spice blends and traditional flavours.
Beyond Bihar, passengers can sample a variety of regional dishes across the country. The 20101/02 Nagpur–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express offers Maharashtrian Kanda Poha, South Indian Dondakaya Karam Podi Fry, and Andhra Pradesh’s Andhra Kodi Kura, while the 20901 MMCT–GNC service features Gujarati Methi Thepla, and the 26902 SBIB–VRL train serves Masala Lauki.
Other highlights include Odisha’s Aloo Phulkopi on the 22895 Howrah–Puri Express, Maharashtrian Masala Upma on the 22229 CSMT–MAO train, and West Bengal’s Murghir Jhol on the 22302 NJP–HWH service.
Railway officials said the initiative aims not only to provide quality meals but also to showcase India’s diverse culinary and cultural heritage, offering passengers an immersive travel experience.
