Gopalganj: Suresh Chaudhary, a wanted criminal from Gopalganj in Bihar, was shot dead in Howrah, West Bengal, on Wednesday, police confirmed. Chaudhary, who had more than two dozen criminal cases registered against him in Bihar and West Bengal, was reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants while working as a sand contractor.
Witnesses said the attackers fired three bullets at Chaudhary, hitting his chest and neck, killing him instantly. Authorities suspect the killing may be linked to a dispute with the local sand mafia.
West Bengal Police arrived at the scene, secured the area, and sent Chaudhary’s body for post-mortem. Investigators have launched a thorough probe into the incident, which has sent shockwaves through Howrah’s local community.
Chaudhary was known for his connections within the criminal underworld, and his death marks the latest escalation in ongoing conflicts linked to organised crime in the region.
