Banka: The Tourism Department of Bihar has announced a major upgrade to tourist infrastructure at Odhani Dam in Banka district, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote the region as a vibrant tourist destination. A new cafeteria has been completed at the site and is expected to become operational by the end of the month, once the lease process is finalised.
Already a popular spot for water sports such as jet skiing, motorboating and speed boating, Odhani Dam is set to receive a further boost with the development of several amenities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience. Construction is currently underway on a theme park, open-air theatre, gazebo, parking spaces, children’s park, and decorative fountain, among other facilities.
The newly built cafeteria, constructed at a cost of Rs 3.45 crore, includes a prefabricated structure and site development. Additional infrastructure projects worth Rs 7.49 crore are also in progress, including boundary walls, a connecting bridge, a multipurpose block, a Navgrah-themed children’s park, landscaping, and signage.
Officials say the upgrades will cement Odhani Dam’s status as a key tourist attraction in the state. “These developments are part of our broader mission to enhance tourism in Banka district,” a department spokesperson said. “Once complete, visitors will have access to a wide range of recreational and dining facilities.”
Odhani Dam joins other tourist hotspots in the region such as Mandar Hill, a mythological site that now features a state-of-the-art ropeway and multiple visitor facilities. The department believes the growing number of attractions will continue to drive tourism and economic development in the region.
