Patna: In a significant political development, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, has announced a new alliance with the Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP) to contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. The announcement was made at a press conference in Patna, where Tej Pratap stated he will be fielding a candidate in collaboration with the party, which he referred to as “Helicopter Baba.”
The new alliance, formed between Pradeep Nishad’s VVIP and Tej Pratap’s political platform, “Team Tej Pratap,” also includes the Pragatisheel Janata Party (PJP) and the Samyukta Kisan Vikas Party. Addressing the media, Tej Pratap Yadav expressed his resolve, saying, “We have to fight the future together.” He also announced his own intention to contest the election from the Mahua assembly constituency.
The move marks a clear separation from his family’s party, the RJD, following his recent expulsion by his father, Lalu, in the Anushka case.

During the press conference, Tej Pratap Yadav was highly critical of VIP chief Mukesh Sahni, referring to him as an “impostor” and claiming that the VVIP is the “original party” of the Nishad community. “Our party is still small but the morale is big,” he asserted, adding that “breaking our strength will cost many parties heavily.”
In a surprising turn, he also extended an invitation to the RJD and the Congress, saying they would be “welcomed” if they wanted to form an alliance with Team Tej Pratap. He defended his younger brother, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, stating that Tejashwi is “not greedy for any post” and would never support the JD (U) and BJP.
