Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena Calls for Tighter Internal Security

Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Friday directed senior officials to enhance internal security measures across the state, with an emphasis on round-the-clock social media surveillance, vigilance at key locations, and citizen participation through a new civil defence portal.

During a high-level review meeting on Friday, Meena addressed Inspector Generals, Deputy Inspector Generals, District Magistrates, and Superintendents of Police, stressing the importance of coordination between state and central agencies. The focus, he said, must remain on securing sensitive sites such as government buildings, transportation hubs, religious places, tourist destinations, and border areas.

“Every district unit must remain alert to ensure both national and civil security,” Meena said, adding that efforts to combat misinformation, fake videos, and propaganda on social media should include prompt fact-checking and official rebuttals. He also called for strict monitoring of jail inmates and cyber patrolling by dedicated teams.

A digital portal being developed by the Civil Defence Directorate will soon allow young citizens to actively contribute to civil protection efforts, he announced.

The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit, DGP Vinay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, DG (Civil Defence) Paresh Saxena, ADG (Law and Order) Pankaj Darad, Home Secretary Pranav Kumar, Special Secretary K Suhita Anupam, and others.
