Patna: A tense situation unfolded at Danapur Railway Station on Friday after the body of a passenger was found hanging inside a coach of the Danapur–Pune Express, railway officials said.
According to preliminary information shared by railway authorities, the deceased is believed to have died by suicide. However, officials have stated that the cause will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.
Body Discovered During Routine Inspection
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel reportedly found the body during a routine inspection after the train arrived at Danapur. Officials said the coach door was initially found locked from inside, prompting staff to enter through another compartment.
On entering, they discovered a man hanging from an upper berth using a belt. The matter was immediately escalated to senior railway officials and security agencies.
Identity of Deceased Not Established
Authorities said the deceased, estimated to be around 35 years old, has not been identified so far. No identity documents were recovered from the coach or the body at the time of inspection.
Senior officials confirmed that both the Government Railway Police (GRP) and RPF teams reached the spot shortly after the alert was raised.
Forensic Examination Initiated
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been called to examine the coach and collect evidence. Officials said the compartment has been sealed for investigation to determine the sequence of events.
Railway authorities added that the train, a special service on the Danapur–Pune route, had reached the station later than scheduled and was undergoing maintenance checks at the time of the discovery.
Official Statement
Railway SP Anant Kumar Rai confirmed that the body was found inside the general coach and that the deceased remains unidentified. He said investigation teams are examining all possible angles in coordination with technical and forensic experts.
