Patna: The Patna district administration has launched a drive to make National Highways in the district completely free of encroachments, directing officials to remove illegal roadside eateries and unauthorised parking areas within the next 15 days.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by District Magistrate Thiyagarajan SM and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma on Friday. The meeting was attended by Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs).
Officials said roadside dhabas and illegal parking zones operating along National Highways would be removed as part of the campaign. Trucks and other vehicles found parked illegally on highways will be seized and fined.
The administration also warned that action would be taken against vehicle owners found violating the rules.
Public Safety Given Top Priority
During the meeting, the DM and SSP instructed all Superintendents of Police, SDOs, SDPOs, Station House Officers (SHOs), and other concerned officials to ensure strict compliance with the directives.
They emphasised that public safety remains the administration’s foremost priority and stated that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
The officials said encroachments and unauthorised parking along highways pose risks to commuters and can contribute to traffic congestion and accidents.
Action Ordered in Illegal Land Record Case
Separately, the District Magistrate reviewed second appeals filed under the Bihar Public Grievance Redressal Rights Act, 2015, during a hearing at the Collectorate on Friday. A total of 14 cases were disposed of during the proceedings.
While hearing one of the cases, the DM identified what he described as serious negligence in the cancellation of illegal land records related to ‘Gair-Majrua Malik’ land in the Bihta Circle area.
He directed the Bihta Circle Officer to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the concerned revenue employee by preparing Form-A within 24 hours.
Proposal Sought for Cancellation of Illegal Jamabandi
The District Magistrate also instructed the Additional Collector to submit proposals for the cancellation of all illegal land records registered under the concerned land account.
He directed that hearings on these proposals be conducted on priority and disposed of in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
During the proceedings, Thiyagarajan SM reiterated that effective implementation of the Bihar Public Grievance Redressal Rights Act remains a key administrative priority. He also expressed regret to appellant Abhishek Sahay over the negligence observed in the matter.
